Change Approaches

The 2008 election saw the serious erosion of the distribution of power to favor the Democrat Party.   The have promised an agenda of “change”.  Additionally, they are beholden to some very liberal organizations that have agendas that threaten to erode the very freedoms we hold dear and impose a social agenda we can ill afford.

We got into this situation by allowing the Representatives we have elected to take us for granted.  Without continuing diligence on our part and the constant pressure of an activist electorate, we can expect many onerous laws to wend their way through the process and become law, threatening our values and our prosperity.  We must fight to preserve both.

The Power of Citizen Involvement

There remains a mechanism in the Senate that acts as a final hurdle to the passage of legislation.  A cloture measure is designed to cut off debate and proceed to a final vote on a resolution.  When there are not enough votes (60) to cut off debate, it is known as “filibuster” This stops all debate and any chance at amending bad provisions out of a bill.  It takes 60 votes in the Senate to cut off debate, hence the name “The 41st Vote“.  Common citizens can become “The 41st Vote“. We proved the importance of citizen involvement by exercising our voice during the debate to grant amnesty to illegal aliens.   We proved it again during the debate to implent the Cap and Trade System embodied in the McCain Lieberman act that would seriously erode our economic competitiveness, impose a huge tax burden on our economy and implement a massive beauracracy , the likes of which this country has never seen, all for an unproven phenomenon.
