This House version of the stimulus bill actually does not have a number assigned as yet.  It is under development by the leadership (Nancy Pelosi)  and their desire is to tightly control that development and then file the bill and bring it to a vote without any contributions by Republicans and no debate or amendments. That is why they have not filed it as yet, they are subverting the process so that they  can conceal as much of the pork and welfare as possible.

They cannot hide it completely though.  The Heritage Foundation, Redstate.com, Americans for Taxpayer Reform and numerous other conservative organizations have created a website and a citizen project to wade through the swamp so to speak and look for pork barrel spending projects and welfare spending buried in the stimulus bill so that we can highlight spending that will do nothing to “stimulate” the economy.

The consumer is some 70% of our total economic activity.  The quickest, surest way to move the consumer to begin spending again is to let them keep more of their own money though tax cuts.  The Congressional Budget Office has already blown the whistle on stimulating the economy through “infrastructure” projects, it will take 18 months for 50% this money to “start” to enter the economy because of the bureaucracy that will have to handle, analyze and contract the spending of this money.  Can you wait 18 months for the economy to begin to improve?

Go to the Read The Stimulus website.  You will find a link to a spreadsheet which exposes the folly that this monstrosity from Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama will do what they say it will do.  There is a link to a Google spreadsheet created for volunteers to add pork barrel spending items they found in reading the stimulus to make it easier for your to discover the bloat and waste in this bill.

Also, if you think that the administration has a purely altruistic motive in “spending for infrastructure“, you need to watch this video.  Pay careful attention to what Congressman Charles Rangel and former Secretary of Labor Robert Reich say.  There basic premise ( I am shocked they were willing to admit this on the record) they are squarely aiming this not at the middle class but at targeted classes of their (Democrat Party) constituents.
