Twitter has emerged as a very powerful tool to advance conservatism. You may ask how? The real power in Twitter lies in its ability to signal to everyone who believes in conservative principles that they are not alone.  Viral networks connect us faster than any other medium.  You may not know me, but if I lead you to something that strikes a chord with you, you will likely repeat it to your friends and they will repeat it to their friends and so on, all in the fashion of Paul Revere.

As such, Twitter has the power to build rank and exposure to the blogs of us out here who are simple everyday commonsense conservative that have talents, clear voices for conservative principles and important and effective strategies for building the strength of conservatism.  To that end, follow this simple set of tenets to magnify the power of Twitter.

• Invite all your friends to Twitter. Make sure you use the #TCOT hashtag and any others you are currently tracing.
• When you see a link that draws you to read a post, don’t just read and run.  Stop, and comment, if even just to say “great post”.
• If that post strikes a chord, Share it with others you know who you think should see it.  Many blogs have button that appear at the bottom of the post that will say share me, you can e-mail the post from these buttons.  Most importantly, subscribe to the blog.
• Digg the post ., and share on the other social bookmarking site such as Mag.noli.ia and the others. Digging posts that elucidate important conservative principles is critical.  The left is master of this and it is one of their strongest tools for building the power of their use of Web 2.0.  The same Share buttons I mentioned before have links to share the post at these social bookmarking sites.
• Tweet the URL of what you read, if you think others should read it. Retweet it later.
• If the post calls you to action and you believe that call is important, ACT on it.
• Share that post on your community networks.
• Invite that blogger to your community.

• Link to that blog and follow that blogger on Twitter.

• Put a “Follow me button” on your blog.

I have to reiterate a point here.

When Twitter draws you to a conservative blog, magnify the power of Twitter and Conservatism, by commenting on the blog and using it, if possible to draw people to a conservative community and then subscribing to that blog and inviting others you know to do the same.

These ten simple mechanisms have the power to transform conservatism.  If you do not think so, just humor yourself and try them for 6 months.  I, for one, will be willing to bet you a beer you will be shocked at the results, if we all utilize this powerful medium in a consistent manner.
